What Remains Tender: Samim Alam Beg & Vivek V C at Vida Heydari Contemporary, Pune
At Vida Heydari Contemporary, Pune, the exhibition What Remains Tender brings together the practices of Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C, opening on Saturday, 20 June 2026. Moving between what is held and what is lost, what persists and what recedes, their works invite viewers into a space shaped by attention, resonance and quiet persistence.
Through clay, drawing, photography, print transfer and image, the exhibition traces how memory settles, returns and transforms over time.
The artists will be present at the preview, on 20 June 2026, 7:00–9:00 PM, and the exhibition will continue until 2 August 2026, offering a contemplative journey into tenderness and endurance.
ARTIST SAMIM ALAM BEG
Born in Murshidabad in 1998, Samim Alam Beg pursued sculpture at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, earning both BFA and MFA with distinction. His practice explores the dialogue between cultural and natural landscapes, weaving architecture’s precision with nature’s intricacy.
Working with ceramics, metal, and photography, he transforms organic forms into delicate sculptural filigree, tracing memory’s quiet persistence. Honored with the MFA Gold Medal, multiple memorial prizes, and named to Art India Magazine’s 30 Under 30, Samim’s journey reflects both experimentation and devotion.
From the Kochi Students’ Biennale to national awards, his work resonates as a meditation on nature, design, and the unseen threads that bind them. Today, he lives and works in Kochi, India, carrying forward a vision where art becomes inquiry and form becomes reflection.
ARTIST VIVEK V C
Born in Kannur, Kerala in 1996, Vivek V C is a visual artist whose practice spans drawing, painting, and mixed media. Rooted in charcoal, watercolor, and textured handmade paper, his works explore memory, folklore and the spectral through stains, erasures and fragile surfaces.
Deeply shaped by his grandmother’s ghost stories and her later struggle with Alzheimer’s, his ongoing project Grandma’s Nightmare blends personal loss with oral storytelling. His imagery often unfolds in dusk-lit gardens inhabited by animals, hybrid beings and quiet, unsettling presences.
Drawing inspiration from Persian and Mughal miniature traditions, Vivek creates haunting spaces where fear, tenderness, and longing coexist. He lives and works in Vadodara, India, carrying forward a practice that transforms memory into atmosphere and silence into presence.
