VIVIDHA KASHI – SHOW OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF VARANASI AT VARANASI AIRPORT
An exhibition titled VIVIDHA KASHI has been organized at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi in creative collaboration with the Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri S. Rajalingam, DM, Varanasi, in the presence of former Airport Director Ms. Aryama Sanyal, Current Airport Director Shri Puneet Gupta and litterateur Ms. Neerja Madhav.
Prof. Pradosh Mishra (Curator), renowned artist Prof. Suresh Nair, Mr. Ajay Kumar (CISF Commandant, LBSA) and other dignitaries were present during the inauguration.
“This show of Contemporary art of Varanasi was planned for the global visitors who are travelling to Varanasi for the G20 Summit.
This exhibition displays 35 works by 14 artists from Varanasi and two artists, Kathryn Myers from the USA and Prashant Miranda from Canada, who have rediscovered Kashi through their unique perspectives.
The exhibition through the artworks, initiates a dialogue that is representational, figurative, abstract, and narrative, through which the viewer is expected to re-live his personal experience of the visual memory leading to a timeless encounter with the Ghats, narrow lanes, temples, festivals and the events surrounding the people of Varanasi,” said Prof.Pradosh Mishra, Curator of the Exhibition.
This is the first time that any airport is hosting such an art exhibition, which has drawn appreciation from both International as well as domestic travellers who are taking a closer look at the continuing art practice of the city.
