VERSATILE ARTIST DR. PREETI GUPTA: A JOURNEY OF CREATIVITY AND EXCELLENCE
Dr. Preeti Gupta, also known as Dr. Preetikrishna, a multifaceted artist from Gorakhpur, has made significant contributions to the fields of music, poetry and philosophy. Born in 1969, she pursued her BA in Sanskrit, Philosophy and Music from Gorakhpur University in 1989. She furthered her education with an MA in Philosophy and a Ph.D., specializing in the works of Shri Aurobindo and Sankaracharya.
Dr. Preeti Gupta’s (Preetikrishna) career as a musician and singer has seen her perform on numerous national and international stages. Her talent has been recognized with various awards and accolades. Notably, she has played the sitar at prestigious events, including a charity concert in London for the Somalia and Pakistan Disaster Fund.
Renowned artist Dr. Preeti Gupta (Preetikrishna) shares, “My dance Gurus are the pillars of my artistic journey.” She continues, “For Kathak, I have been guided by Shri Prem Shankar, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Dr. Kumkum Dhar. My Bharatnatyam Guru is the esteemed Poonam Bose.”
Reflecting on her musical mentors, she says, “From childhood to now, my Sitar Gurus have been the late Shri Jagdish Singh, the late Pandit Surendra Mohan Mishra, the late Pandit Kamal David and the late Pandit Satish Chandra. I also studied under the tutelage of renowned sitarists, Guru Vijay Jagtaap (UK) and Abhinav Sinha, Lucknow. Recently, I have also started learning from Shri Debojyoti Gupta in Calcutta.”
In addition to her musical achievements, Dr. Preetikrishna is a published poet. Her book, “Bhavnao Ke Rang,” showcases her poetic prowess. Reflecting on her literary contributions, she says, “My articles, stories, and poetry have been published in several magazines and newspapers. My story, Yakeen Manaya, was also published.”
Her association with radio and television programs in India, along with her experience as a music teacher in both India and the UK, highlights her versatility and dedication to her craft.
Dr. Preeti Gupta (Preetikrishna) has been a beacon of health awareness, leading numerous programs such as the Swasth Bharat Karyakram. Her impactful work has graced the screens of Lucknow Doordarshan and Gorakhpur Doordarshan, spreading inspirational messages to countless viewers.
She has also written numerous scripts for media research and advertising in the UK.
Dr. Preetikrishna beautifully reflects on her teaching journey: “I was a language teacher at Sevenoaks School in London, where I used to teach Hindi at ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level. I also taught Hindi to diplomats at the Language Centre in London while I was living there.” Her dedication to spreading the knowledge of Hindi across different levels and to diverse groups of learners highlights her passion for language and education.
“I am very spiritual and a strict vegetarian. A few years ago, I also stopped eating onion and garlic because I am a devotee of Lord Vishnu. I wear a Tulsi Kanthi and wake up early in the morning at 3 AM to do my mantra japa, meditation, and puja,” renowned artist Dr. Preeti Gupta (Preetikrishna) shares.
“I am a pet lover, a nature lover, and a good cook. I used to feed stray dogs,” she adds.
Dr. Preeti Gupta’s (Preetikrishna) participation in the National Integration Camp for Women at SNDT Women’s College, Mumbai, and the Cultural Troupe Camp of Asiad 1982 in New Delhi, further exemplifies her commitment to cultural and artistic endeavors. Her work with prestigious modeling agencies, including Millennium UK Ltd. and SMA Baby Milk, UK, adds another dimension to her diverse career.
