VANITA: A TRIBUTE TO EXEMPLAR WOMEN IN INDIC WISDOM
Ganesa Natyalaya and Dr. Usha RK present “VANITA” (वनिता), a tribute to exceptional women in Indic wisdom. Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, from 6 PM onwards at Ganesa Natyalaya, C-16, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi. Free entry for all.
This special occasion, conceptualized by Dr. Usha RK, will highlight the wisdom, humility, courage and thoughtfulness of exceptional women in Indic wisdom. Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan and Dr. Usha RK will be honored, and the event will feature captivating performances by renowned artists.
In honor of its Swarna Saroja (Golden Jubilee year), Ganesa Natyalaya, in collaboration with Dr. Usha RK, will host a samvaada exploring the lives of four exemplary women from Indian mythology. Each woman symbolizes a distinct aspect of feminine virtue. This presentation, conceptualized by Dr. Usha RK, pays homage to the unparalleled qualities these women embody, reminding us of our intrinsic virtues.

Viveka (Intellect and Spiritual Wisdom) – Shreyasi Gopinath illuminates the spiritual intellect of Maha Saraswati, highlighting the discernment to distinguish essence from non-essence.
Vinaya (Humility) – Nandini Ganesan portrays Radha’s humility, a form of temperance devoid of pride and self-deprecation.
Veerya (Intellectual Fearlessness) – Navia Natarajan brings to life Draupadi’s relentless nature, showcasing courage, boldness, bravery, and self-confidence.
Vicharaka (Power of Debate and Justice) – Sayani Chakraborty embodies Gargi, the pioneering woman philosopher known for her prowess in debate and justice.
This two-hour performance features live music by Kalishwaran Pillai on Nattuvangam, Vidya Harikrishna on Vocals, Abhishek Avadhani on Mridangam, and Uma Arun on Violin. Conceptualized by Dr. Usha RK, “VANITA” celebrates the extraordinary qualities of these exemplary women from Indic mythology, reminding us of our intrinsic virtues.

From its humble beginnings with just a few students, Ganesa Natyalaya has blossomed into a vibrant cultural hub for Bharatanatyam dance, attracting both Indian and international students. With over 315 Arangetrams and global affiliations, the Natyalaya stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Bharatanatyam. Collaborating with NGOs like the Guild of Service, Aravindam Foundation, and SARVAM, the Natyalaya provides Bharatanatyam training to underprivileged students through its dedicated teachers. Celebrating its 50th year, Swarna Saroja, Ganesa Natyalaya has organized over 35 events in the past 11 months, both in India and abroad.
