Prof. Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, former Dean, Rabindra Bharati University presents  lecture demonstration on ‘Tribal Dances Across Cultures’ at Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA, New Delhi on 18nOctober 2023

Gaudiya Nritya will be performed by her students from Gaudiiya Nritya Bharati, Kolkata on 19 October 2023.

“Gaudiya Nritya, the classical dance form has been reconstructed from various fragments of different periods and influenced by various sources like texts, architecture, literature, and the Guru-Shishya tradition. 

It’s great to experience its revival in recent decades, keeping it fresh and captivating even today,” says Prof. Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, former Dean, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.

Dr. Mahua Mukherjee is an exponent, pioneer researcher who has revived the Indian Classical Dance form Gaudiya Nritya. Along with her husband Amitava Mukherjee she has been reviving the dance style through her career from 1980. She has also given performances and lectures as Fulbright visiting Professor at the University of Oklahoma, USA.

Mahua Mukherjee is the founder Dance director of the Institute, Gaudia Nritya Bharati and former director of Mitryan. 

Dr. Mahua Mukherjee has significantly contributed to popularise this ancient dance form and now Gaudiya Nritya has been recognised as an Indian Classical dance by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
