Sukoon: Upcoming Solo Exhibition by Monika Sharda at New Delhi
The preview unfolds on 16 January 2026 @ 5:30 PM, followed by a five-day showcase from January 17 to 21, Sukoon—a solo exhibition by Jaipur-based artist Monika Sharda—will open at the Main Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi.
Curated by JohnyML, the show will be inaugurated by Shri Harshvardhan Sharma, Head of Art Projects, New Delhi Municipal Corporation, in the presence of distinguished guests. Running until January 20, the exhibition will invite audiences into a contemplative journey of myth, memory and the primal sound that shapes human imagination.
Through layered canvases, renowned artist Monika Sharda explores the first voice of the universe—OM and its echoes across cultures. Her paintings draw from folk and tribal traditions, weaving global spiritual motifs into India’s mythic past. “It was a triggering point for me to explore the mythical traditions of India. In this series, I treat time as layers and narratives as submerging and erupting forms,” she reflects, offering silence as a space for deep listening.
“Monika Sharda’s works represent the meditative aspects of art making. Right from the Oriental landscape paintings to the Tibetan Tankha paintings, the images and vistas are created not merely for painterly pleasure, instead, they are created as a part of their effort to find the core and the harmony of things. They are frozen narratives. Unlike the western modern and contemporary art, Monica’s works have a meditative content in them; they are process based with layers of paints and narrative symbolism built up within and without these layers to capture the contemplative painterly effects.” — JohnyML, the art historian and curator of this exhibition.
