SHANKARSCOPE: Honouring the Rhythmic Legacy of Pandit Shankar Ghosh

In the quiet glow of a New Delhi morning, the resonant heartbeat of Indian classical music returns with SHANKARSCOPE—a soul-stirring tribute to Acharya Pandit Shankar Ghosh  (10 October 1935 – 22 January 2016).

Presented by Vrindan, this concert celebrates the maestro’s timeless artistry through a vibrant tabla recital that echoes his profound legacy. Set within the serene confines of CD Deshmukh Auditorium at the India International Centre, New Delhi,  the event invites connoisseurs and curious hearts alike to immerse themselves in the lyrical cadence of tradition. 

ShankarScope: A Quiet Gaze into Rhythmic Grace

ShankarScope is not merely a tribute—it is a tender lens into the luminous life of Pandit Shankar Ghosh, whose tabla spoke in tones of revolution and reverence. A visionary of the Farukhabad gharana, he redefined rhythm as emotion, transforming technique into touch. Yet, his true brilliance lay in the silences between the bols—in his humility, his teaching and the quiet grace with which he shaped generations. His legacy, honoured by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, lives on not just in compositions, but in the hearts he tuned to the music of empathy.

This 25th January, ShankarScope awakens at the India International Centre as a luminous tribute to Pandit Shankar Ghosh. Through tabla recitals by Shri Arunangshu Chaudhury, Pumaan Singh, Pandit Ramkumar Mishra, Shri Rahul Mishra, and Shri Unmesh Banerjee, the maestro’s legacy unfolds in diverse rhythms, each echoing his timeless spirit. As music breathes, artist Shri Manish Rao will paint the legend live, translating sound into colour and presence.
