Remembering Ramkinkar Baij: A Tribute to the Sculptural Visionary at Santiniketan
On August 2nd, 2025, Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni (SKBP), Santiniketan, in collaboration with EGRA Agricultural & Rural Development Society, hosted a commemorative lecture series marking the 45th death anniversary of legendary sculptor Ramkinkar Baij.
Held at Santiniketan, the event featured poignant reflections by Prakas Das, author of Ramkinkar: An Anthology—the first comprehensive documentation of Ramkinkar Baij’s life and work—published in 1989.
Ramkinkarji’s student, celebrated sculptor and retired Visva-Bharati professor Dr. Janak Jhankar Narzary offered a heartfelt tribute, sharing personal insights into legendary sculptor Ramkinkar Baij’s creative brilliance and enduring legacy.
Though the accompanying painting workshop was postponed due to heavy rain, the lectures resonated deeply, reaffirming Baij’s place as a towering figure in modern Indian art.
