Primal: Narinder Kahlon’s Untamed Ode to Nature

There is a moment before language, before thought even settles into shape, when instinct alone governs us. It is this moment — raw, unfiltered and deeply human — that artist Narinder Kahlon captures in PRIMAL, her first solo exhibition in India.

In PRIMAL —hosted at Sublime Galleria, Bangalore — artist Narinder Kahlon summons this very instinct onto canvas, weaving textured, powerful compositions that pulse with emotion, strength and raw energy.

It is less an exhibition than an invitation: to shed the polish of civility and rediscover the untamed heartbeat still alive within us.

PRIMAL unfolds as a visceral meditation on what it means to be alive. Through a striking collection of richly textured paintings, Narinder Kahlon explores our primal connection with the natural world — each canvas becomes a threshold between the tamed self we present to the world and the untamed self that nature first carved.

The Artist Behind the Instinct

Narinder Kahlon is a self-driven artist working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, her practice rooted firmly in the natural world — its forms, its rhythms, and the quiet, unseen forces that animate both. Her work moves fluidly between wildlife, landscape and abstraction, treating texture and colour not as ornament but as vocabulary — a language through which feeling is translated directly onto canvas.

Interestingly, Narinder Kahlon’s path to the easel was not a conventional one. Trained as a management professional, she has painted since childhood, allowing art to grow alongside — rather than instead of — a structured career. Over the past thirteen years, this quiet, persistent devotion has matured into a distinctive body of work: intimate and immediate in feeling, yet deliberate and symbolic in intent.

Texture as Language, Intuition as Method

At the heart of Narinder Kahlon’s technique lies a process of layering — richly built surfaces constructed through intuitive mark-making, where each gesture responds to the one before it. The result is a body of compositions that resist quick consumption; they hold the viewer’s attention long after the first glance, revealing new depths, ridges and undertones with every return.

From Orange County to Bengaluru: A Growing Artistic Journey

PRIMAL marks Narinder Kahlon’s second solo showcasing, following a successful debut exhibition in Laguna and Newport Beach, Orange County, USA. With this new series, Kahlon now makes her long-awaited debut on Indian soil, bringing her untamed visual language home to Bengaluru through her partnership with Sublime Galleria.

Raspberry Reverie Series

Complementing this primal energy is the Raspberry Reverie series—a body of work that delves into layered emotion through deep berry tones, texture and subtle luminosity.

“It’s intuitive, yet structured, each piece revealing different depths depending on light and distance,” says the curator of the show.

“We look forward to welcoming all to this journey into the wild,” added the curator.

The exhibition opens on 4 September 2026, 5:00 PM onwards, at Sublime Galleria, 8th Floor, UB City, Bengaluru.
