Palm Leaf Workshop by Mary Theresa: Crafting Sustainability Through Art at Tasmai, Puducherry

The Palm Leaf Workshop by Mary Theresa, to be held on 2nd June 2026 at Tasmai, a Centre for Art & Culture, Puducherry, celebrates the timeless beauty of eco-friendly craftsmanship. 

This creative session introduces participants to the art of transforming locally available palm leaves into exquisite handmade objects—mats, baskets, trays, toys and jewelry—each piece reflecting sustainability and artistry. 

Guided by Mary Theresa, a skilled artisan from Pondicherry and member of the Art and Craft Village, Murungapakkam, the workshop encourages mindful creation and innovation through natural materials. 

Trained at the District Industrial Centre (DIC) in 2002, Mary Theresa now graciously shares her craft and wisdom through workshops at her home—continuing her mission to nurture creativity and preserve traditional artistry under the aegis of DIC
