Navadisha Festival of Dance: Celebrating Movement and Meaning at Gyan Manch, Kolkata
Upasana Centre for Dance presents Navadisha: Exploring the Dancing Path, a two-day festival that honors the spirit of classical and contemporary Indian dance.
The Navadisha Festival of Dance opens on 19th January with a vibrant performance of Yakshagana by Dr. Varsha Shetty and Mrs. Disha C. Shetty from Karnataka, followed by a spirited ensemble by the students of Upasana Centre for Dance.
On 20th January, the stage at Gyan Manch will come alive with celebrated artists—Dr. Madhuri Majumdar, Smt. Poushali Chatterjee, Dr. Sucharita Datta Ghata, Dr. Laxminarayan Jena, Smt. Sayani Chakraborty, and Smt. Shayomita Dasgupta—each presenting a distinct facet of India’s dance heritage.
With lighting by Sri Soumen Chakraborty, sound by Hansi Panchali, and ceremonial lamp lighting by Dr. G. V. Subramanian, the festival is a luminous tribute to movement and meaning.
