India–Maldives: Sixty Years of Harmony
The Maldives, Asia’s tiniest land, with land area only 298 km², stretches across 90,000 km² of ocean beauty. Home to 500,000 islanders, living just a few feet above sea level, it’s also one of the world’s most densely populated, lowest-lying places, and it balances ancient roots and modern tides—from fishing boats to luxury resorts.
Malé, the “King’s Island,” echoes 2,500 years of legacy, while UNESCO-listed coral mosques keep history alive.
On 26 July 2025, India’s Prime Minister joined the Maldives to celebrate 60 years of independence and friendship. Their bond runs deep—rooted in ocean winds and shared hopes.
With promises in climate care, tech growth and peaceful ties, both nations now look to a brighter tomorrow across the Indian Ocean.
