Early Jottings by Kirti Chandak: A Puducherry Exhibition of Quiet, Intimate Art (3-12 October 2026)
Puducherry: A figure curls inward, a dark bird perched on its shoulder, while faint hands reach in from the edge of the frame. Drawn in delicate blue lines on warm, earthy paper, the work invites you to slow down and look closer. It comes from Early Jottings — a solo exhibition by renowned artist Kirti Chandak, presented by Shilpataru.
The exhibition opens today, Saturday 3 October 2026, at 6:00 PM at Maison Perumal, Heritage Town, Puducherry, and runs until Monday 12 October.
Kirti’s path is as rich as her canvases. A graduate of the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education in Pondicherry, she earned a BFA in Painting from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, and an MFA in Painting from M.S. University, Baroda, where she won the Late Milinde Kumar Bhade Gold Medal. Her honours include a Junior Fellowship, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a National Scholarship. In 1999 she was selected for a cultural exchange with the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Maison Perumal is a zero-waste, sustainable space, so single-use plastics and PET bottles are not allowed.
