“Indian classical music is an integral part of our vast and rich cultural heritage. I have through my long musical journey, more than 60 years, have tried my best to popularize various forms of Hindustani classical music Dhrupad, Dhamar, Khayal, Haveli Sangeet, Prabandh etc., through my innumerable concerts, workshops and lectures held in India and abroad. The ‘Sarvang Sampurn Gayaki ‘(my self created innovative style),also known as ‘Sarvang Gayaki’ is a unique amalgamation of musical elements, embellishments and ancient forms as enumerated in our ancient Sanskrit texts,” says Acharya Dr. Gokulotsavji, the most accomplished Hindustani classical musician, composer, writer, poet and musicologist.
“I have been working relentlessly for the preservation and propagation of our rich musical wisdom and culture amongst the masses. I have tried to connect more than 3,500 students and music lovers to the mainstream of our classical music tradition and cultural values. Several of my students are successful performers and have benefited a lot through my workshops, lecture demonstrations and performances held in India and abroad. I and my son Acharya Dr.Vrajotsavji Maharaj are committed to the bright future of our young musical talents. We have been conducting music workshops and value based programs (Sanskar Shivir) for the dissemination of ancient musical knowledge and culture amongst the younger generation,” said renowned Hindustani classical Musician Acharya Dr. Gokulotsavji.
Acharya Dr. Gokulotsavji Maharaj ji has composed more than 5,000 musical compositions under the pen name of ‘Madhur Piya’. His son and disciple, Vrajotsavji Maharaj has also composed several compositions under the pen name of ‘Vrajrang’, ‘Braj Rang Piya’.
Acharya Dr. Gokulotsavji Maharaj ji is honoured with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri by the Government of India. He has received Tansen National Award, D.Lit National Award and twice the President’s Gold Medal Awards and many more.
Maharaj ji has trained many disciples, some of them are now accomplished performers.
