BIRTH CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF THUMRI EMPRESS SHOBHA GURTU

CELEBRATE THE BIRTH CENTENARY OF THUMRI EMPRESS SHOBHA GURTU IN MUMBAI

The Ministry of Culture, Government of Maharashtra, is celebrating the birth centenary of Thumri Empress, Padmabhushan Vidushi Shobha Gurtu, through a three-day “Sangeet Mahotsav” in Mumbai. The festival will be held at the picturesque Swatantrata Veer Savarkar auditorium from the 5th to the 7th of February 2025, with programs beginning at 6:30 PM each day. 

The program will feature a series of performances by various distinguished artists, including Nabanita Chowdhary, who will be performing on the first day, Thursday, 6th February. 

Renowned Classical Vocalist Dr. Nabanita Chowdhary received musical guidance at a very early age from the legendary musicians Padma Bhushan Vidushi Shobha Gurtu, Padma Bhushan Pandits Rajan Sajan Misra, and Pandit Deepak Chatterjee ‘Rasik Rang’. She has performed extensively all over India and abroad, including in the USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Mauritius, Norway and Bangladesh. 

Celebrated classical musicians of India, including Pandit Bhuvnesh Komkali, Vidushi Dhanashree Pandit Rai, Pandit Pramod Gaikwad, Sanjay Garud and Sonal Shivkumar, will also perform in this prestigious “Sangeet Mahotsav” marking the event a mesmerizing experience for classical music enthusiasts, showcasing the rich heritage and talent of Indian classical music.
