ALOK MURALI FESTIVAL 2023 & 11TH ANNUAL PROGRAMME OF AHABAN
AHABAN, School of Indian Classical Odissi Dance, Folk Dance & Creative Dance, Kolkata presents ALOK MURALI FESTIVAL 2023 – a tribute to Guru Muralidhar Majhi and Guru Aloka Kanungo & 11th Annual Programme of AHABAN on 28 May 2023 at RABINDRA OKAKURA BHAVAN, 27 A/1, Salt Lake City, Kolkata – 700064.
The Alok Murali Festival will commence at 1.30 PM and the Annual programme of AHABAN will commence at 5.00 PM.
“We are organizing ALOK MURALI FESTIVAL 2023 to celebrate and honour the incredible contributions of Odissi dance Guru Muralidhar Majhi who first introduced Odissi dance in Kolkata and the renowned SNA Awardee Guru Aloka Kanungo who continues to tirelessly promote this exquisite art form. We will be presenting various form of dance performances like Gaudia Nritya, Kathak,Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Monipuri in our festival and would be awarded ‘Alok Murali Samman’ in this festival,” says Sriparna Bose, eminent artist, choreographer, director and organiser of the ALOK MURALI FESTIVAL 2023 and the 11th Annual Programme of Ahaban.
“This festival will feature captivating performances by talented artists, paying homage to the legacy and efforts of Guru Muralidhar Majhi and Guru Aloka Kanungo.
We have invited our honourable guests, Odissi Dance Exponent SNA Awardee Guru Aloka Kanungo, Guruma Annapurna Majhi ( wife of Late Guru Muralidhar Majhi), renowned mime artist Padmasri & SNA Awardee Guru Sri Niranjan Goswami , Founder of Goudiya Nritya Prof. Dr. Guru Mahua Mukherjee, Odissi dance & music Exponent Guru Poushali Mukherjee, Odissi dance Exponent Guru Monalisa Ghosh, Kathak dance exponent Guru Tapash Debnath, Kuchipudi Dance Exponent Guru Prof. Dr. Madhuri Majumder, Bharatnatyam Dance Exponent Guru Anita Mallik, Mohiniattam dance exponent Guru Momm Ganguly & Sri Buddhadev Das, former Member of GKCMORC of Bhubaneswar, Social worker and Advocate,” she added.

11th ANNUAL PROGRAMME of AHABAN ( 5.00 PM)
TABLA RECITAL by Pandit Sri Ashish Mukherjee and Indian Classical Guitar would be played by Sri Subhadip Bose.
The guest artist, Urjjasee Basak would be presenting Odissi dance and all the students of Ahaban would be presenting Indian Classical Odissi Dance and few performances with Rabindra Sangeet in Odissi style choreographed by renowned artist Sriparna Bose.
AHABAN has been imparting Classical Odissi dance, folk dance and Creative dance under the artistic guidance of versatile dancer and eminent choreographer Sriparna Bose. She has started her training in Odissi dance under the able guidance of Guru Muralidhar Majhi and now she is a dedicated, senior student of renowned Odissi exponent Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Guru Aloka Kanungo

She has performed at many major dance festivals all over India and abroad, worked as a casual artist in the Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Kolkata. She is the recipient of many awards including Swarabitan Samman 2012 and Guru Nilachakra Samman 2022.
