An Evening of Rhythm and Reverence: The 2nd Pandit Bulbul Maharaj Sangeet Samaroh
When the lights dim at Kamani Auditorium on 9 November 2026, Delhi will gather for an evening devoted to the timeless art of Indian classical music.
Shruti Foundation presents the 2nd Pandit Bulbul Maharaj Sangeet Samaroh, a tribute to the revered Tabla guru of the Benaras Gharana, at 6:00 PM at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, New Delhi.
The evening will be graced by chief guests Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Mrs. Subhalakshmi Khan. The line-up brings together Pt. Sajan Mishra and Swaransh Mishra, Pt. Dharam Nath Mishra, Pt. Vinod Lele, Pt. Rajendra Gangani, Pt. Mithilesh Kumar Jha, Pt. Fateh Singh Gangani, Ishan Mishra and Lalit Sisodia, a gathering of seasoned masters and rising voices on one stage.
The Soul Behind the Samaroh
At the heart of this celebration is Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha, founder of Shruti Foundation, which supports and provides a platform for young, talented artists. A dedicated teacher, he nurtures the next generation in the traditional gurukul style in Greater Noida.
His own journey began at the age of six under his father, Shri Gopikant Jha, and was refined under Pandit Bulbul Maharaj of the Benaras Gharana. He won first prize at the All India Music Competition in 1986 and second prize at the Bihar Government’s Youth Festival in 1985. After moving to Delhi, he received guidance from sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Today he is among the most sought-after Tabla players of recent times, having accompanied legends such as Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Begum Parveen Sultana, Pandit Jasraj, Vidushi Girija Devi, Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Vidushi Shubha Mudgal.
The Samaroh is more than a concert. It is a living lineage, where a guru’s legacy meets the artists he inspired.
