Odyssey: A Journey Through Nature, Myth and Memory
Step into Odyssey, a solo exhibition by renowned artist Poonam Bhatnagar, curated by Uma Nair, presented by Khushii Art at LTC, Bikaner House, New Delhi (23–27 September, 11 AM–7 PM).
The show unfolds across four evocative worlds — Prakriti‘s lone landscapes, Mayura‘s peacocks amid Rajasthan’s haveli grandeur, Enlightened One‘s soft-hued Buddha imagery, and Mythos‘s pantheon of Hanuman, Saraswati, Shiva, Ram, Ganesha and Laxmi.
A luminous Meerabai welcomes visitors at the entrance, opening the exhibition with a landscape of bhakti and song.
Curator Uma Nair describes the experience: “Broken into distinct and definitive themes, the canvases at LTC will begin with panoramic collage that integrates landscapes in abstract moods as well as relief features, as well as a peacock that sets the tone for nature’s rhythms along with imagery that spans Buddha and Indian mythos subjects. Intrinsically intriguing is her webcast technique she created after studying a spider’s web during early days in 2016.” That webcast technique — an infinity netting born of her textile training — forms the delicate foundation of every canvas.
“At a time when the world can feel increasingly fragmented, her works remind us of the things that connect us: nature, memory and the search for peace.” — Uma Nair, Curator
Prakriti unfolds as a lyrical meditation on landscapes, where artist Poonam Bhatnagar captures nature’s finest moods in solitary frames of silence and splendour. Mayura, shimmering with peacocks, weaves architectural echoes of Rajasthan havelis into a dance of grace and heritage. Enlightened One turns inward, drawing Lord Buddha into autumnal light and soft tropical hues, a vision of serenity and timeless reflection.
The last and largest chamber at LTC, Bikaner House, New Delhi, will resonate with mythic presences. Hanuman’s courage, Saraswati’s wisdom, Lord Shiva’s cosmic rhythm, Lord Ram’s devotion, Ganesha’s auspiciousness, and Laxmi’s abundance will gather in painted form — a pantheon of guardians reminding us of the cultural imagination that binds generations.
Odyssey, sponsored by Khushii Art, is envisioned not merely as an exhibition but as a sanctuary — a place where art lovers may pause, reflect, and rediscover the beauty of shared memory and myth.
In a fragmented world, Odyssey is a quiet invitation to reconnect: with nature, with memory and with the shared stories that hold us together.
