UMANG 2026: NTKI’s 16th Annual Kathak Festival Lights Up Kolkata with Three Days of Classical Dance and Music
Kolkata prepares to embrace three luminous evenings of artistry as Nrityanjali Traditional Kathak Institution (NTKI) presents UMANG 2026, its 16th Annual Festival, from 6th to 8th August. This cherished celebration weaves together the grace of Kathak, the vigor of Bharatanatyam, and the lyrical elegance of Odissi, honoring the timeless heritage of Indian classical arts.
The festival unfolds across two iconic venues. On 6th and 7th August, the ICCR Satyajit Ray Auditorium comes alive at 6:00 PM with performances by NTKI’s own students alongside distinguished guest artists, including Susanta Ghosh’s Kathak ensemble, Sonarpur Nadam under Guru Shri Sandip Mallick, a compelling Bharatanatyam duet by Samrat Dutta and Santanu Roy, and Angashuddhi’s Odissi presentation led by Smt. Shashwati Garai Ghosh.
Day two brings soulful solo and duet Kathak recitals from Ranjani Bhattacharjee, Surashree Bhattacharya, and Priyanka Saha.
The finale, on 8th August at 5:30 PM, shifts to the majestic G.D. Birla Sabhaghar, featuring evocative Kathak recitals by Bagesree Vaze, Vineet Vyas, Susanta Ghosh, and Biswajit Pal — a fitting crescendo to the festival’s artistic journey.
Curated by Shashank Ghosh, UMANG 2026 stands as a vibrant confluence of tradition and excellence, uniting seasoned performers and emerging talent on one stage.
Rasikas, patrons and admirers of Indian classical culture are warmly invited to witness this enduring legacy unfold — three evenings promising beauty, depth and unforgettable artistic expression.
