Ahmedabad 2030: A New Era Beckons

Countdown to Ahmedabad 2030: Commonwealth Games Centenary

The curtain fell on Glasgow’s spirited Commonwealth Games on 2 August 2026, closing eleven days of fierce competition across four venues.

For India, the journey was triumphant—39 medals glittered in the tally, with 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze, securing a proud fourth place. Athletes departed Glasgow with satisfaction, their victories echoing across continents.

Yet, as one chapter ended, another began.

In a dazzling handover, India extended a vibrant invitation to the world—Ahmedabad, a city where ancient philosophy meets contemporary artistry, will host the centenary edition of the Games in 2030. The presentation was more than a ceremony; it was a cultural symphony, blending grandeur with promise.

Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, representing King Charles III, formally declared the Games closed, calling upon athletes from every nation and territory to gather in Ahmedabad four years hence. The Commonwealth flag, carried in solemn procession, marked the symbolic journey from Scotland to India.

India last welcomed the Games in New Delhi in 2010. Now, as the flag lowers and rises anew, Ahmedabad prepares to script history—an arena where heritage and modernity will converge, and where the Commonwealth spirit will shine brighter than ever.

The countdown has begun, not merely to a sporting spectacle, but to a cultural celebration of a century.

Ahmedabad 2030 awaits, poised to redefine the Games with artistry, philosophy and athletic brilliance.
