Dr. Bilambita Banisudha – Nakshatra Samman Awardee at Shraddhanjali 2026
At Shraddhanjali 2026, the Indian Classical Music Festival organised by Swaranjali Delhi in association with Shreyas Webmedia Solutions, Dr. Bilambita Banisudha, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Music at Sikkim University, offered a Hindustani classical vocal recital of rare depth and refinement. Held on 20 June 2026 at Gita Govinda Sadan, Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, the programme was dedicated to the memory of Guru Late Suramani Bauri Bandhu Sethi.

Accompanied by Shri Kulamani Sahoo on tabla and Shri Dhaneswar Ojha on harmonium, her performance unfolded with sensitive raga exposition, expressive improvisation, and aesthetic balance, earning warm appreciation from connoisseurs and fellow musicians. The festival, a confluence of eminent artists, celebrated India’s rich musical heritage, and in this gathering Dr. Banisudha was honoured with the Nakshatra Samman—a distinguished accolade recognising her profound impact as performer, scholar, and educator.

Dr. Bilambita Banisudha, PhD, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Music at Sikkim University, shines as both performer and thinker in Hindustani classical and semi‑classical music. A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, her voice blends scholarship with devotion, carrying the gravitas of tradition and the resonance of artistry.
Dr. Bilambita Banisudha began her musical journey under the gentle guidance of her mother, Shrimati Sabita Das, before immersing herself in the rich traditions of Khayal with Vidushi Sruti Sadolikar Katkar of the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana in Mumbai, and in the soulful depths of semi‑classical music with Vidushi Sucharita Gupta of the Banaras Gharana—each step shaping her into a voice where heritage and artistry flow in harmony.
Trained at Banaras Hindu University under Prof. Ritwik Sanyal, with earlier studies at Rabindra Bharati and Visva‑Bharati, she has authored acclaimed works such as Multiculturalism in Indian Music (2023) and Compositional Forms of Dhrupad (2021). Through her pen and her performances, she enriches India’s cultural landscape, reaffirming the enduring spirit of the guru–shishya tradition and the timeless legacy of classical music.
