A LUMINOUS BRIDGE OF ART AND DIPLOMACY—INDIAN PERCEPTION OF LAOS UNVEILED
Indian Perception of Laos: A Canvas of Friendship and Faith
The Embassy of the Lao PDR, in association with Gallery Sree Arts, unveiled Indian Perception of Laos at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on 4th June 2026. Curated by renowned Jitendra Padam Jain, the exhibition commemorates 70 years of India–Laos diplomatic relations, weaving together imagination, memory and emotion into a shared cultural tapestry.
The opening was graced by H.E. Anouparb Vongnorkeo, DM, Foreign Affairs, Lao PDR, and witnessed an enthusiastic response from the diplomatic community, with ambassadors and senior envoys from China, Bhutan and ASEAN nations including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor-Leste, appreciating the concept. Featuring artists from both India and Laos, the works reflected temples, rivers and the threads of Buddhism, while also painting the soul of Indian soil.
Curator Jitendra Padam Jain reflected:
“For 70 years, both nations have shared history, faith, and friendship. ‘Indian perspective of seeing Laos’ brings together Indian artists who explore the soul of Laos—its temples, the Mekong, its people, and the threads of Buddhism that bind us. Laotian artists have also painted the thoughts of Indian soil.” He added, “The Embassy of Laos and Gallery Sree Arts bring together this cultural exchange exhibition to mark 70 years of India–Laos diplomatic ties, where we will see Laos through Indian eyes.”
Renowned artist Annkush B. Sharma offered a poignant thought:
“Art is the gentlest form of diplomacy.” His words resonated with the spirit of the exhibition, which stood as a celebration of trust and imagination—an artistic bridge between nations.
The exhibition was warmly received by art lovers, collectors and the public, marking a luminous beginning to the commemorations of this historic milestone in India–Laos relations.
The exhibition continues to shine—an enduring celebration of India–Laos friendship through art.
