Dance & Tagore — A Resonant Evening of Rhythm and Reflection
On 3rd June 2026, the Anuchintan Art Gallery, Kolkata became a luminous stage of philosophy and movement as part of the 4th Natya Festival, organized by Dr. Gourab Das.
The evening’s Lecture–Demonstration on “Dance & Tagore” unfolded under the scholarly and artistic guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Mahua Mukherjee, whose vision bridged Rabindranath Tagore’s poetic essence with the expressive vocabulary of Indian classical dance.

The performance ensemble—Ananya, Monikiran Duttagupta, Hiran, Ditsa, Shrimoyi, and Dr. Mahua Mukherjee herself, joined by her son Ayan Mukherjee—wove a tapestry of rhythm and grace that mirrored Tagore’s meditative understanding of art as devotion. Each movement seemed to echo his timeless verses, transforming the stage into a sanctum of thought and emotion.
Adding depth to the evening’s aesthetic resonance was the vocal support of Pandit Amitava Mukherjee from Gaudiya Nritya Bharati, whose voice carried the spiritual cadence of Tagore’s compositions.
