Guardians of the Threshold — Kaisang Padma’s Solo Exhibition at Bikaner House
Contemporary artist Kaisang Padma unveils Guardians of the Threshold, a meditative solo exhibition inspired by the landscapes and spiritual atmosphere of Ladakh.
Opening on 5 June 2026 at Bikaner House, New Delhi, and on view until 9 June 2026, the exhibition presents a series of large‑format acrylic paintings on canvas that transform Himalayan terrains into spaces of silence, contemplation, and spiritual presence.

At the heart of the works are symbolic figures—watchers, guardians, and solitary beings—who inhabit thresholds between human experience and the immense forces of nature. Cliffs, bridges, and mountain paths emerge as transitional spaces where movement and stillness coexist, evoking memory, myth and inner reflection.
“In some paintings, contemplative figures hint at rituals, guardianship, and watchfulness associated with remote mountain passes. In others, the landscape itself becomes the central presence, emphasizing the vast scale and meditative quality of the Himalayan terrain. Through layered surfaces, restrained palettes, and carefully constructed compositions, Padma creates atmospheres of suspended time and profound stillness,” say the organizers of the exhibition.
Kaisang Padma’s restrained palettes and layered surfaces create atmospheres of suspended time, where landscapes themselves become meditative presences. Speaking of her vision, she notes that the series reflects an ongoing exploration of landscape as spiritual space, where the visible and the symbolic converge.
