Gati 2026 — A Celebration of Classical Grace in Siliguri
From 5th to 7th June 2026, the city of Siliguri will once again awaken to the rhythm of tradition as Gati 2026, the prestigious three‑day festival of Indian classical dance, unfolds at Dinabandhu Manch from 5:00 pm onwards.
Organized by the eminent Guru Vidushi Sangita Chaki, who has nurtured this cultural legacy for over four decades, the festival stands as a luminous testament to her devotion to the arts.
Each evening of Gati becomes a confluence of movement and melody—where the sculpted grace meets the timeless cadence of Indian classical expression.
Strings of Tradition — An Evening of Classical Resonance
A special evening of Indian classical instrumental and vocal music will unfold in a tapestry of sound and soul, featuring maestros whose artistry transcends time.
Pandit Sandeep Neogi on the Sitar and Pandit Sunondo Mukherjee on the Sarod will converse through strings that shimmer with emotion, while the rhythmic brilliance of Pandit Subir Thakur, Pandit Subir Adhikari, and Shri Riju Saha on Tabla will anchor the evening’s pulse. Adding lyrical depth, Pandit Sourav Chakraborty will grace the stage with his Harmonium and Vocal renditions, completing this exquisite confluence of melody and devotion.
Gati 2026 — Three Days of Dance and Devotion
The Gati Festival 2026, curated by Guru Vidushi Sangita Chaki, unfolds from 5th to 7th June, offering three evenings where classical dance becomes a living prayer.
Day 1
begins with invocations—Ganesh Vandana, Maha Ganapati Shlokam, Pushpanjali—flowing into vibrant compositions like Jatiswaram and Tillana, alongside provincial folk dances. The highlight is a Kathak recital by guest artist Shri Rahul Dev from Agartala, bringing grace and rhythm to the stage.
Day 2
deepens into the cadence of Shiva Vandana, intricate Shudhonritya in Trital, Jhaptal, Ektal, Rupak, and Choutal, enriched by Darbari Tarana and Thumri. Folk traditions add color, while guest artist Shri Shuvojit Dutta from Kolkata illuminates the Kathak repertoire.
Day 3
blossoms into a grand finale—Anandanartana Ganapati Kirtanam, Pushpanjali, Jathiswaram, and Keertanam—leading to diverse classical expressions: Kathak by Guru Sangita Chaki, Odissi by Smt Pushpita Misra, Bharatanatyam by Guru Vidwan Praveen Kumar, and Kathak by Guru Vidushi Gouri Diwakar.
The evening crescendos with Ganga: A Musical Journey conceptualized by Shri Subrata De and choreographed by Vidushi Sangita Chaki, culminating in a stirring Vande Mataram with script and voice by Shri Anshuman Paul and Ms. Sanchita Bhattacharya.
