From the fluid grace of Manipuri dance to the soul-stirring melodies of Rabindra Sangeet and devotional harmonium, crowned by a grand Violin Orchestra, the evening unfolds as a luminous tribute to heritage, harmony and the timeless brilliance of the performing arts.
This year’s awardees include Prof. (Dr.) Wajjakkara Kankanamalge Ruwin Rangeeth Dias, Violinist, University of Visual and Performing Arts, Dept. of North Indian Music, Colombo from Sri Lanka; Vidushi Biva Sengupta for her legendary voice in Rabindra Sangeet; Prof. Guru Kalabati Devi for her mastery in Manipuri dance, and Prof. Pandit Chanchal Bhattacharjee, legendary Pakhawaj Instrumentalist and Prof. Pandit Debaprosad Dey, Esraj & Harmonium Instrumentalist, for their profound contributions to Indian classical music.
Each name reflects a legacy of discipline, grace and cultural brilliance.
“The Prajna International Award is our humble pranam to those rare souls who shape generations in silence — artists, mentors and torchbearers of tradition. They never sought applause, yet their silence sings through generations. This award is a salute to their selfless devotion and guru-like grace. We offer this honor at their feet, with deep gratitude and reverence.” – says the organisers of Tapas Kumar Pal Academy of Music & Cultural Foundation, Kolkata.
