Ākhyāna: A Solo Kathak Recital by Alar Arvind in Bengaluru

Step into the rhythmic world of storytelling as Alar Arvind, Doordarshan-graded Kathak artist and disciple of the acclaimed Chitra Arvind, presents Ākhyāna—a solo Kathak recital that promises grace, depth and tradition.

Set against the intimate backdrop of Medai – The Stage in Bengaluru, this performance on 27th August at 6:30 PM is part of the Youth Dance Festival 2025, celebrating emerging voices in Indian classical dance.

Ākhyāna: Sacred Stories in Motion

Rooted in the Sanskrit tradition of sacred narration, Ākhyāna is a solo Kathak offering by Alar Arvind that breathes life into mythological tales through rhythm, gesture and emotion.

Alar Arvind is a luminous presence in India’s evolving dance landscape—an accomplished performer and emerging psychologist whose artistry bridges tradition and introspection. Trained rigorously for over thirteen years in Kathak, Bharatanatyam and Contemporary dance under Guru Vid. Chitra Arvind at Rhythmotion, Bengaluru, Alar Arvind embodies both discipline and dynamism.

With academic roots in Performing Arts, English and Psychology from Christ University, and an MSc in Psychology underway at Ramaiah University, Alar Arvind’s practice is as cerebral as it is expressive.

Her performances have graced stages across India, the USA and Croatia, and her early recognition—including a Bal Shree Award nomination—speaks to a journey shaped by passion, precision and poetic depth.

Choreographed by renowned Chitra Arvind, with music by Shankar Shanbhogue and costumes by Roopa Nagesh, the performance seamlessly blends bhāva and nṛtta—inviting audiences into a divine tapestry of movement and meaning.
