12th Ritachhanda Festival in Kolkata: A Celebration of Classical Music and Artistic Legacy
The 12th Ritachhanda Festival, presented by the SNB Foundation, returns to Kolkata with an evening steeped in the grandeur of Indian classical music.
Hosted at the iconic G.D. Birla Sabhaghar, Ballygunge, on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM onwards, the festival promises a confluence of tradition, artistry, and innovation.
The program opens with a vocal recital by Padmashree Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, accompanied by the masterful rhythms of Pandit Samar Saha on tabla and the soulful strains of Ustad Sarwar Hussain Khan on sarangi.
The evening continues with an instrumental ensemble, featuring three maestros of Indian Classical music, led by Padmashree Pandit Ronu Majumdar on flute, joined by the virtuosity of Debashish Bhattacharyya on slide guitar and Pandit Tanmoy Bose on tabla. Together, these luminaries weave a tapestry of sound that bridges heritage and contemporary resonance.
Guided by the warm presence of Tanvi Chowdhury as host, the festival is more than a concert—it is a living tradition, carrying forward the spirit of Ritachhanda into its twelfth edition.
