WORLD’S FIRST SRI CHAITANYA MAHAPRABHU MUSEUM CELEBRATES 5TH FOUNDATION DAY WITH GAUDIYA NRITYA WORKSHOP
In a vibrant celebration of its 5th foundation day, the World’s First Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Museum hosted an engaging one-day workshop on Gaudiya Nritya on 10 August 2024.
The event aimed at exploring the rich traditions of this classical dance form, was conducted by the renowned Professor Dr. Mahua Mukherjee and Pandit Amitava Mukherjee.
The event commenced with a blessing from Sripad Bhakti Pramod Puri Maharaj, setting a reverent tone for the day’s activities. Spd. Hrishikesh Maharaj, a distinguished monk of the Gaudiya Mission, delivered a compelling speech on the influence of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu on Gaudiya Nritya, highlighting the dance form’s deep spiritual roots.
The workshop featured insightful discussions on the history, evolution and significance of Gaudiya Nritya, complemented by live demonstrations of both song and dance. The program was expertly coordinated by Mr. Pritam Bagchi, Assistant Curator and Conservator of the museum.
Shri. Pritam Bagchi, the student of renowned Curator Dr. Baishakhi Mitra said:
” This is the great way to celebrate a foundation day with students and visitors coming from different spaces. When I was a university student my professor Dr. Mitra instructed me very well that in future I have to do some work to promote and propagate the intangible heritage of Bengal and India. Preach among the students and awaken the question in their mind that from where our cultural heritage comes from? Our museum is one in the world, so people keep coming and sharing their thoughts and we implicate those thoughts to serve mankind better.”
A total of 120 students actively participated in the workshop, each receiving a certificate of participation.
