Wabi-Sabi in Pondicherry: Ankita Kasar’s Soulful Works on Paper at TASMAI

In the quiet heart of Pondicherry, where art breathes through every alley and whispering wave, Ankita Kasar unveils her delicate ode to impermanence—Wabi-Sabi: Works on Paper. This intimate exhibition, born from a one-month residency at TASMAI, a Centre for Art & Culture, Pondicherry,  invites viewers to pause, reflect and embrace the beauty of the unfinished and the imperfect.

Through handmade paper, papier-mâché, marbling, embroidery, and spontaneous sketching, Ankita Kasar’s journey unfolds as a tapestry of collaboration and quiet transformation.

Guided by artists Kirti Chandak, Giribala Tripathy, Jyoti Yadav, Cecile, Shubodeep, and Ramkumar, she discovered how discarded materials could be reborn—recycled, upcycled and reimagined into soulful expressions.

Her works speak softly of nature, simplicity and the grace of letting go. Each piece is a meditation on texture and time, echoing the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: the art of finding beauty in the transient and the flawed.

“In this mini-exhibition, at Tasmai, I present works on paper that explore wabi-sabi through the materiality, impermanence and quiet imperfections of paper”– Ankita Kasar

Ankita Kasar, a Mumbai-based curator with roots in Museum Studies and experience across India and Singapore, brings a thoughtful lens to this exhibition. Her creations are not just visual—they are emotional landscapes, shaped by learning, humility and the quiet joy of making.

Join on 20 December 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at TASMAI to witness this gentle celebration of paper and spirit.
