Vistar’s 47th Music Conference: Honoring Legacies Through Indian Classical Harmony

Vistar, School of Indian Classical Music, presents its 47th music conference from 9th to 11th January 2026 at Surya Sen Mancha, Jodhpur Park, Kolkata. This heartfelt gathering pays tribute to two towering figures—Sangeetacharya Late Anil Roy Chowdhury (1910–1976) and Late Rajeev Goenka (1945–2020)—whose lives were devoted to nurturing the soul of Indian classical music.

A Gathering of Grace: Vistar’s 47th Music Conference Artists

In the spirit of reverence and rhythm, Vistar’s 47th Music Conference brings together a constellation of talented artists from across India. From soulful vocalists like Prosenjit Chakraborty, Navodeep Chakraborty, Vedantika Mukherjee, Sumoulika Sarkar, and Daliya Mukherjee and Priyanshu Ghosh from Varanasi, to the expressive strings of sarod played by Pallavi Nandi, Ruhin Dasgupta, Jiyaan Dasgupta, Wrijiswan Mukherjee, Suropriya Goswami, Surjasish Sengupta, Arnab Bhattacharya, Kalyan Mukherjee and others—the stage is set for a rich musical experience.

The sitar section shines with Suhrita Paul, Meghdut Das and Aalokdut Das, Sarthak Karmakar, Prabahan Sur, Swapnil Sengupta, Simon Gill, Ramprapanna Bhattacharya and Pandit Harvinder Sharma among others, while Saatwik Sen’s flute promises a breath of serenity. A special attraction—Sarod Baba and Gayaki Mata—will perform with Sukalyan Maitra and Mainak Banerjee on tabla, adding a rare spiritual touch.

Supporting this ensemble are seasoned accompanists: tabla maestros like Prof. Dilip Mukherjee, Soumitra Dasgupta,Mainak Banerjee, Dr. Abhishek Chatterjee , Gopal Prasad Das, Avik Goswami, Swarnava Karmakar, Swarnadip Dey, and harmonium artists including Anirban Chakraborty, Dwaipayan Roy, Ratan Bhattacharya and Sayan Chatterjee . Together, they form the heartbeat of this musical tribute—an offering of sound, memory, and devotion.

On 10th January, the halls of Surya Sen Mancha will come alive with the celestial notes of Divine Melody—a sitar recital by the internationally celebrated maestro, Pandit Partha Pratim Roy. Rooted in the Maihar gharana, his soulful performance promises sublime ragas that unite tradition with transcendence.
