Undefined Equations — Nine Visions, One Canvas of Silence

Kannur’s art scene comes alive today as Commune – The Art Hub opens its doors to Undefined Equations, a group exhibition bringing together nine remarkable artists: Col. Sureshan, Hareendran Chalad, Joy Chacko, Maneesha Muruvassery, Robert Lopez, Sasikumar K, Surekha, Vishnu Vijayan and Vismaya Johny.

The exhibition was inaugurated this morning at 10 AM by Shri P. Vishnuraj, IAS, District Collector, Kannur, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration of artistic expression that runs from 25th to 30th September, 10 AM to 6 PM, at the 1st Floor, Mahathma Mandiram, Kannur, Kerala.

Among the nine voices, Sasikumar K stands out for his introspective visual language and shadow-laced compositions, inviting viewers into a realm where perception and illusion quietly collide. Building on his earlier acclaimed series Phantom of the Real — where a humble piece of cloth, worn by countless hands and journeys, became a poetic “turned object” — Sasikumar continues his exploration of memory and transformation.

Reflecting on his artistic philosophy, he shares: “Phantom of the Real was a response to the unknown… that question seeks an answer, and that answer should be either ‘yes’ or ‘no’; though it runs past the yes or no and demands the meaning or the stand of the unknown.”

At Undefined Equations, Sasikumar unveils new stories still waiting to be read — an open invitation for viewers to find their own equations within his shadows.
