FIVE RAFALE FIGHTER JETS JOIN INDIAN AIR FORCE
Five Rafale fighter jets joined into the No.17 Golden Arrows squadron of Indian Air Force at the Ambala base on 29 July,2020. There are three single-seater and two twin-seater aircrafts and their final induction ceremony will take place in the second week of August. Five more aircrafts are ready for delivery to India after a training of nine months from France. Delivery of all 36 aircraft would be completed by the end of 2021 as per schedule.
The Rafale gives a big boost to the IAF at a time of tensions with China on the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh Region.
VANDE BHARAT MISSION PHASE V
The flights under the Vande Bharat Mission Phase V to evacuate the stranded non-residents have been extended to August 31, 2020. Air India will operate 252 flights and Air India Express will operate 191 flights in Phase V.
UNLOCK 3.0 GUIDELINES ISSUED BY THE GOVERNMENT
Fresh Unlock 3 Guidelines were issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 29 th July, 2020. The lockdown measures will be strictly enforced in containment zones till August 31. During this phase, swimming pools, entertainment parks will remain shut and all functions of political parties, social and religious functions and gathering will not be allowed to contain the pandemic.
Schools, Colleges, Metro Rail services, Cinema Halls and Bars will continue to remain closed till August 31.
NEW EDUCATION POLICY
The Union Cabinet has approved the new National Education Policy on Wednesday, 29July 2020, introducing many drastic changes focusing on mother tongue and establishing a common higher education regulator for public and private institutions.
Public spending on education will be raised to 6% of the GDP and a new regulator shall be established for the administration of higher education except for medical and legal courses in the country.
