A dedicated and graded Kathak artist, Tarushi has spent nearly a decade immersed in the discipline, poetry, and precision that this classical dance form demands, emerging as one of its most promising young torchbearers.

Early Beginnings and the Guiding Hands of Her Gurus

Tarushi’s tryst with Kathak began at the tender age of fourteen, under the nurturing guidance of Ms. Swarnika Srivastava, who first introduced her to the intricate footwork, spins, and storytelling gestures that define the art form. As her passion deepened, she continued her training under the able mentorship of Ms. Srishti Junnarkar, refining her technique and expanding her understanding of Kathak’s expressive vocabulary.

Her pursuit of excellence led her to the hallowed halls of Kathak Kendra, where she completed her Diploma with Honours under the eminent Kathak Guru Smt. Malti Shyam ji — a name synonymous with tradition and grace in the Kathak world. Today, Tarushi continues to deepen her craft, currently pursuing her Post Diploma under the guidance of Guru Gauri Diwakar ji, further honing the nuances of rhythm, abhinaya, and storytelling that Kathak so beautifully weaves together.

A Journey of Nine Years, Marked by Recognition

Practicing this art form with unwavering devotion for nine years, Tarushi has earned recognition well beyond the studio. She holds the distinction of being a graded artist of Prasar Bharti, Delhi, a mark of both technical mastery and artistic maturity. Her talent has also been formally acknowledged through the Bhartiya Nritya Kala Vidyarthi Yojna scholarship, awarded by the FCDFO, a testament to her promise as an emerging classical dancer.

Gracing Prestigious Stages Across India

Tarushi’s artistry has found expression on some of the most celebrated cultural platforms in the country. She has performed at the revered Meera Mahotsav in Chittorgarh, the Pt. Birju Maharaj Jayanti Samaroh in Lucknow, the Dikshaant Mahotsav in Delhi, the Ritu Vasant Mahotsav in Udaipur, and the Yuva Nritya Mahotsav in Delhi. She has also graced the stage at the 33rd Quarterly Baithak, organised by the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Delhi — each performance adding another layer to her growing repertoire of prestigious appearances.

Intimate Baithaks and Solo Recitals

Beyond the grandeur of festival stages, Tarushi has also embraced the more intimate, soulful setting of the traditional Baithak — a format where classical dance finds its purest, most personal expression. She has presented solo Kathak recitals at Baithaks organised by Sanskaar Bharti, Kalagyaa-ICPA, and the Gauri Diwakar Sanskriti Foundation. Adding further prestige to her journey, she has also performed at the celebrated Dikshaant Samaroh, hosted by Kathak Kendra, Delhi — a stage reserved for the finest emerging talents of the institution.
