TALK AND ART DOCUMENTARIES ON THE ART & ARTISTS OF THE MADRAS PRESIDENCY – A RETROSPECTIVE
Join for an enlightening evening as the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ministry of Culture, Government of India Regional Centre, Puducherry, in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Puducherry, presents a captivating Talk and a documentary film by the esteemed artist, curator and filmmaker Gita Hudson.
The event will take place on 8 September 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Puducherry Contemporary Art Gallery. Thiru. V. Kaliaperumal, Director of Art and Culture, Government of Puducherry, will honor with his presence.
Renowned artist Gita Hudson, with a Master’s degree in Psychology, has curated numerous national and international art exhibitions at Dakshinachitra, Chennai. Influenced by temple art and Indian murals, her semi-abstract paintings began with floral themes, to which she has recently returned.
Gita has held over 20 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 50 group shows, including in London, South Africa, South Korea, and Washington DC. She views filmmaking as an extension of fine arts, documenting eminent Indian artists like Prafulla Mohanti and Yusuf Arakkal. Her documentaries have been screened widely in India and internationally, including at the Gandhi Centre in Washington DC and the British Council in London.
