“Every year ANANDADHARA organized many programmes including Bengali New Year celebrations, Rabindra Jayanti, World Music Day celebrations, Dol Utsav, Christmas, Independence Day celebrations, Valentine’s Day, Vivekananda Birthday celebrations, Rakhi Festival, Environment Day, Children’s Day celebrations participating people in the Bengal’s Doors Side Village area during Covid pandemic period. These remote lesser-heard hilly hamlets of lush green tea gardens, towering Himalayan mountain ranges and several national parks, a gateway to the hill towns of Darjeeling and many hill towns of Northeast are at a distance of more than 200 Kms from Siliguri, my native place.

I tried to teach the children in this area.  I moved to these areas – Nagrakata Luksan Tea Garden, Keran Tea Garden, Grassmari Special Primary School in Gorumara Forest Budhuram tribal areas to teach them. I tried to cover the Malbazar and Odlabari area, most of the Dooars areas and contacted children and involved them in studying music,” says Anindita Chatterjee, talented Rabindra Sangeet Singer and social activist.

Anindita Chatterjee has been motivating the local people on a wider platform particularly for the upliftment and teaching music. She has been co-ordinating many celebrations, programmes and fostering music participation by the children and younger generation. Anindita Chatterjee is a post graduate and also won Silver medal in Rabindra Sangeet. She has released 7 albums on Rabindra Sangeet and participated in many Radio and TV Programmes.

Anindita Chatterjee started Anandadhara Sangeet Academy in a humble way in the hill station, Siliguri during the pandemic period and now every year more than 200 students are preparing for a career in music.

“Anandadhara Sangeet Academy is a music school and it is also organising many  social works. I have no NGO and all expenses for the social works are met from the music tuition. Every year we conduct many events involving the local people and the students of Anandadhara Sangeet Academy,” she added.

Recently Anindita Chatterjee was honoured by awarding a Citation at the Baithaki Programme organised by SWARANJALI DELHI, a premier organization dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Indian Classical Music.
