Tactile Colors and Living Pictures — Larissa Noury’s Grand Solo Exhibition at Château de l’Etang

“HE WHO POSSESSES COLOR CREATES A SINGLE RELIGION, THE RELIGION OF LOVE AND HUMANISM.”  (M. CHAGALL)

At the historic Château de l’Etang in Bagnolet, France, renowned artist Larissa Noury unveiled one of her most expansive solo exhibitions, “Tactile Colors and Living Pictures” (March 12 – April 24, 2026).

The celebrated artist and colorist presented 123 canvases, including triptychs and quadriptychs in mixed media, alongside dresses painted and calligraphed freehand. These creations were further enriched by photographs captured by Mohammed Taghzout in Morocco’s landscapes, and videos chronicling Noury’s artistic journey from her YouTube channel.

The exhibition was not merely a display of works but a living dialogue between art, architecture and fashion.

Larissa Noury, a Doctor of Art and Architecture, delivered two lectures—“Colors in the City” and “Art and Haute Couture”—that illuminated her philosophy of color as a transformative force.

At the Château, colors became living tableaux. “Of all the exhibitions at the castle, this one by far illuminated the castle with its vibrant colors and living tableaux,” reflected Mourad Medjkoun, Director of the Castle, House of Arts and Heritage. His words carried both gratitude and welcome: “I thank you not only for your artistic talent but also for the person you are, and you will always be welcome at the castle.”

Fatiha Everbecq, Executive Assistant, spoke with heartfelt admiration: “You are an artist whose talent illuminates eyes and touches hearts. Thank you for sharing this beauty. Your generosity, your sensitivity, your creativity inspire every moment.”

When arts intertwine, enchantment is born. Leïla Elmahi described the encounter as cosmic: “Rush to her exhibition… You will leave filled with earthly energy and stardust… Larissa Noury, thank you, and may your patron saint protect your inspiration and your creativity!”

Writer and poet Gisèle Mayet-Albagnac captured the alchemy of disciplines: “What a beautiful collection to promote the luminous work of Larissa Noury, an extraordinary artist who transports you to a cosmic elsewhere! The combination of the arts amplifies the emotion tenfold. Bravo!”

Yves Charnay, painter and filmmaker, spoke of inspiration as a living exchange: “A number of us artists would like to experiment with creating works under Larissa’s guidance. I am very happy with the works that Larissa’s work has inspired in me.”

Mike Marc de Dulmen, journalist-director, captured the devotion of returning twice: “I came to see the works of Larissa, but also to meet Jean-Marie Pujol, who has inspired her for 20 years… What beauty, like all her paintings!”

Amar Meriech, poet and writer, offered a portrait of Larissa as “Architect of Colors at the Château de l’Étang… A painter, architect, and art historian, she has been exploring this simple yet infinite question for years: what does color do to us?” He described her canvases as “tactile colors… surfaces that breathe, vibrate, and are almost palpable… navigating between abstraction and reality, landscapes bathed in light, architectures of pure color, flows of energy where form dissolves.”

Her art, he concluded, is not merely seen but lived: “What particularly distinguishes her work are these living tableaux where the painting overflows the frame. Color inhabits the space, the body, the stage… For her, color speaks—emotion, memory, raw sensation. Each canvas becomes an inner landscape, a composition where intuition and reflection converge.”

Visitors echoed this sentiment in vibrant tones: “A magnificent exhibition that takes us on a journey through all the facets of an artist with a vibrant and colorful vision… Thank you for your beautiful music for the eyes.” Another voice added: “An explosion of colors, a vivid harmony… Masterpieces in magnificent colored paintings! It’s magical, so full of joy!”

The guestbook itself became a chorus of wonder: “A dazzling display of colors charged with emotion. We enter a cosmic Universe into which we are transported!” Another visitor wrote: “A journey into color! Nothing but beauty, rich in positive emotions… An exhibition that speaks to the Heart. To the Soul… Sublime.”

The events featured distinguished collaborators: France Lavergne-Cler, an environmental design colorist, and Jean-Marie Pujol, couturier formerly of Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Their presence underscored the exhibition’s interdisciplinary resonance.

Over 700 visitors experienced this vibrant showcase, with guided tours welcoming students, senior citizens, professional artists from South Korea, Italy, and Great Britain, as well as local residents. The exhibition’s atmosphere was heightened by interviews, filming sessions, and a remarkable performance by Maria Veretenina, the renowned actress and opera singer from Tallinn, Estonia.

Larissa Noury’s artistry is rooted in her invention of tactile colors—a layering technique that reveals landscapes from varying distances, earning her the gold medal at the Concours Lépine. Her Tableaux Vivants collection, created with Jean-Marie Pujol, merges dresses and paintings into a seamless dialogue.

Inspired by Turner, Monet, and Zao Wou-Ki, Larissa Noury seeks to render invisible colors perceptible, weaving light and matter into beauty. Her Slavic heritage nourishes this vision, offering color as a promise of happiness and a universal language of joy.
