SWARANJALI DELHI KEEPS ALIVE THE TRADITIONAL DARBARI BAITHAK
SWARANJALI DELHI, a premier organization dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Indian Classical Music presented BAITHAKI – a series of Indian Classical Music programmes, a cultural extravaganza showcasing our rich heritage at Siliguri.
“Swaranjali is making an effort to keep alive the traditional Darbari Baithak, where artists and art lovers are very close and have good connection through a homely atmosphere. It was just an initiative to preserve our rich cultural heritage and upcoming talented artists in this region,” says Subrata De, renowned Sitarist and founder of Swaranjali Delhi. “We have honoured a few local talented artists and social activist Smt Anindita Chatterjee, who is also a Rabindra Sangeet singer by awarding citation,” Subrata De ji added.
The BAITHAKI Series at Siliguri organised by Swaranjali Delhi at ICHHEBARI Siliguri was inaugurated by Smt. Avaya Bose, founder of ICHHEBARI on 27 April 2024.
The Musical extravaganza started with the opening songs performed by the musicians of Sangeet Kala Academy, Siliguri (Ladies Group) followed by the renowned musicians Dr. Sutapa Dutta, disciple of (late) Smt Bharati Chakraborty; Pandit Sudhakar Deoley (Abhisheki gharana); Smt Aditi Bannerjee, disciple of Bidushi Shobha Gurtu, accompanied by Padmakhya Chakraborty on Tabla; Smt. Nibedita Bhattacharjee, disciple of Pandit Devasish Dey (Bananas); Smt. Sunanda Sharma (Delhi); Acharya Jayanta Bose (Kolkata); Vidushi Shanti Hiranandji (Delhi) and Rasipa (Academy of Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishraji (Delhi) presented Thumri, Kajri, Dadra accompanied by Prianshu Nandi, disciple of Sri. Subir Adhikari (Tabla).
Smt. Maitri Talukdar, disciple of Pandit Manash Chakraborty, accompanied by Shri Amit Saha on Tabla mesmerised the audience. Harmonium accompaniment by Smt. Bulbul Bose with the artists received with rapturous applause.
