Sunrise on the Reaping: The Teen Bestseller Everyone Is Talking About

When a book tops Amazon’s Young Adult chart, teenagers are usually the reason. Right now, that book is Suzanne Collins’ Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest novel in the Hunger Games universe.

What is it about?

The story follows the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, the year Haymitch won. Fans of the original trilogy know Haymitch as the sharp-tongued mentor. This book shows him as a young boy from District 12, forced into the arena and slowly finding the courage to fight back. Newsweek

Why are teens loving it?

• A hero you root for: Haymitch is brave, flawed and deeply human.
• Big questions: Friendship, loyalty, survival and standing up to unfair power.
• Perfect for new readers too: It works as a gripping read even if you haven’t finished the earlier books.

The movie buzz

The film will be released on November 20, 2026, with Whitney Peak cast as Lenore Dove. Many teens want to finish the book before they watch it on screen.
