Stories the Soil Remembers — Jyoti Tyagi’s Solo Exhibition
The solo exhibition–Stories the Soil Remembers by Delhi-based artist Jyoti Tyagi will be presented at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, from 8th to 14th May 2026, curated by poet and critic Prayag Shukla. This body of work is a profound meditation on nature, memory and ecological fragility, where Jyoti Tyagi’s canvases become spaces of reflection on the quiet retreat of nature amidst expanding cities.

Working with charcoal, soft pastels and acrylic, Tyagi’s practice is marked by tactile depth and layered meaning. Her recurring motifs—peacocks, trees and landscapes that hover between barrenness and resilience—speak of nourishment, displacement and the fragile coexistence of humans and the natural world. Each mark, whether scratched or layered, evokes time itself: something simultaneously constructed and eroded.
Her artistic journey is as compelling as her work. Born in western Uttar Pradesh and now residing in Ghaziabad, Jyoti Tyagi’s path has been shaped by academic excellence, lived experience, and perseverance. With a Master’s in Economics and a B.Ed, she first pursued teaching before familial responsibilities led to a long pause in her creative practice. At the age of 41, she courageously resumed her artistic pursuit, completing a Diploma in Fine Arts that provided the technical grounding for her evolving visual language.
Since then, her works have been showcased at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi across multiple years, as well as in national exhibitions in Varanasi, Amritsar and Lucknow. She has been felicitated by the Lalit Kala Academy, UP, and her art has found homes in private and corporate collections both in India and abroad. A defining milestone was her first solo exhibition, Transformation (2019), at Lalit Kala Akademi, which marked her emergence as a distinctive voice in contemporary Indian art.
