Stories in Colour & Thread: Sahona Sarkar’s Botanical Art Exhibition at Sublime Galleria, UB City, Bengaluru
A jewel-toned hummingbird hovers mid-flight, its wings fanned and its tail flaring in flame-red, as it sips from crimson blossoms against a soft green haze.
It is a small moment of wonder, and it sets the tone for Stories in Colour & Thread, the upcoming solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist and designer Sahona Sarkar.
Presented by Sublime Galleria, Bengaluru, the exhibition brings together mixed-media canvas painting, fine art illustration and intricate threadwork. Through careful design, delicate hand embroidery and thread painting, Sahona Sarkar blurs the line between paint and texture.
The collection celebrates the harmony of flora and fauna: blooming botanical landscapes, regal peacocks, quiet birds, and the lively dance of bees, butterflies and dragonflies.
Each layered piece moves with a natural rhythm, and gently reminds us how finely balanced our ecosystem is.
Meet the Artist: Sahona Sarkar
Born in West Bengal and now in the final year of her Diploma in Apparel Design & Fabrication Technology at Ramaiah Polytechnic, Bangalore, Sahona Sarkar bridges technical textile craft and fine artistry. Her canvases fuse painting with layered thread embroidery, creating tactile, multidimensional scenes of birds, florals and pollinators.
Nature is her constant muse, from the delicate elegance of flowers to the lively world of insects. Her work highlights the fragile balance of biodiversity.
Beyond the canvas, Sahona is a performer, singing Rabindra Sangeet and contemporary Bengali and Hindi songs, and dancing at cultural events.
“Creating art through mixed media, painting, and thread work is my true passion.”– Sahona Sarkar
