“We believe that if we think, talk and act artfully, then the whole world can realize as well as embrace the feeling of living amidst artistic joys and feel rejuvenated. Art is an integral part of our lives, culture, and heritage. We feel that if we engage our minds, with some playful creative activities then we can live our lives in contentment and harmony,” says Anohita Chowdhury, founder President of Vrindan Foundation for Art and Culture, a non-profit organization in New Delhi, welcomes all to the cultural evening Spandan -the spirit of rhythm in life.
The Programme will commence with an ensemble of traditional music and dance through a contemporary soundscape. A unison of percussion instruments, based on the Indian rhythmic essence, yet extending to be inclusive of the changing contemporary era-just how rhythm progresses and embodies every new change.
2nd PERFORMANCE / PANCHBHOOT
Rhythm also relates to the existence of cosmic movements around the Universe. Whether it be Shiva’s Tandava, Parvati’s Lasya, churning of butter, flowing of river, thunder of clouds, burning passion of fire, swirling of plants, flying dust or anything at all- these are all various kinds of movements entwined with the already existing rhythm of the universe. The one that is consistent and eternal.
These are the movements and rhythms that do not cease to exist even when the world stops running. They continue to play even when the dynamics of the mortal arena changes. Connecting with this eternal energy of overflowing rhythm and movement, is what can make one possibly immerse in this world of energy and vibrations that seeks to nurture us from within, for art is a healer and an everlasting companion that tags along if we can keep it.
The next performance will showcase one of these everlasting rhythmic movements of the 5 elements that comprises the universe and us. The rhythmic exchange of these elements as they lose themselves in the mortal flesh only to again immerse back in the universe-is nothing but all a rhythmic movement in itself.
Vrindan Foundation for Art and Culture aims to instill the power of art in the community. The Foundation conducts various programmes and empowers the rich art and cultural heritage of our nation.
