Slipping Across the Universe: Pranav Shah’s Solo Exhibition at Bikaner House

STEP INTO A WORLD WHERE COLOURS BREATHE AND SILENCE SPEAKS—SLIPPING ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, A SOLO EXHIBITION BY RENOWNED ARTIST PRANAV SHAH, CURATED BY JOHNYML, OPENS ON 21ST NOVEMBER 2025 AT THE LTC GALLERY, BIKANER HOUSE, NEW DELHI.

For renowned artist Pranav Shah, abstraction is not about shapes or patterns—it is about feelings. His canvases are “aesthetical abodes,” spaces where thought and emotion merge into quiet stillness. Each brushstroke becomes a doorway, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the depth of inner landscapes.

Trained in Interior Design at MS University, Baroda, Shah’s journey from designer to artist began in 2005 with an intuitive leap—when he first picked up a brush and let colour guide his imagination. His creative awakening grew richer through encounters with the works of Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, and Anselm Kiefer during his travels across Europe, shaping his vision into one that balances intensity with serenity.

PRANAV SHAH: FROM MUMBAI TO NEW YORK, A JOURNEY THROUGH ABSTRACTION

Over the years, Pranav Shah has shaped a remarkable body of work, finding space in some of the most respected galleries in India and abroad. From Cymroza Art Gallery, Mumbai (2012) and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2015) to One Art Space Gallery, New York (2018) and Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (2021), his exhibitions have carried the quiet power of abstraction across continents. His celebrated Mars exhibition at Cymroza transformed the gallery floor with silver foil, conjuring otherworldly terrains through a monochromatic palette. Later, his New York solo in 2018 marked a turning point—an international recognition of his universal visual language.

In Pranav Shah’s art, the natural and the cosmic meet in harmony. The slow drift of the Tapti River near his studio, the shimmer of light on metallic surfaces, and the fading hues of dusk all seep into his layered compositions. Each canvas is built patiently, over months, as a meditative act. With oil, linseed and metallic sheets, he creates luminous surfaces where depth and reflection converse—inviting viewers to step into spaces that feel both earthly and infinite.

“My fascination with man-made and natural materials began very early in life. I have always been drawn to the ever-changing moods of nature and their impact on our existence. My paintings may not mirror the earthly atmosphere because I merge my emotions—guided by the Divine—onto the canvas. Through this, I seek to express S.P.A.C.E., both inner and infinite. This creative act is an extension of my being, and I am grateful to the Divine for allowing me to create,” reflects renowned artist Pranav Shah.

Curator JohnyML observes that Shah’s paintings are not meant to be read but felt. They are silent meditations in colour, revealing subtle transitions between emotion, memory and time. Each work becomes a quiet dialogue, inviting viewers to pause and sense the unseen rhythms beneath the surface.

Slipping Across the Universe is a journey into stillness and the infinite rhythms of life.
