Six-Day Kathak Dance Workshop Begins at BHU South Delegacy
The timeless rhythm of Kathak found new resonance today as Banaras Hindu University’s South Delegacy inaugurated a six-day workshop at Nagar Chhatra Nikay.
Organized by Dr. Shyama Kumari, Warden of the South Delegacy, the initiative seeks to nurture India’s classical dance heritage among young scholars, offering the sessions free of cost from 13 to 18 July.
The inaugural programme unfolded with a devotional Ganapati Vandana by Ms. Snigdha Sarkar, setting a luminous tone for the days ahead. Enthusiastic students from diverse faculties joined, their presence reflecting a vibrant cultural spirit.
The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries including Prof. Ranjan Kumar Saraswat (Dean of Students), Prof. Anchal Srivastava (Chief Guest), Prof. Lalit Mohan Agrawal (Chief Warden), Dr. Sunil Chaudhary, Prof. Abhishek Singh, and Prof. Nikhil Bhagat, whose participation lent distinguished weight to the occasion.
Guided by accomplished Kathak dancers Ms. Snigdha Sarkar and Ms. Jayashree Tripathi of the Faculty of Performing Arts, the workshop promises to immerse students in the fundamentals of Kathak while deepening their appreciation for India’s rich artistic traditions.
