SHUBHARAMBH – AN EVENING OF CLASSICAL DANCE WILL BE HELD ON 15 SEPTEMBER 2024, AT 6:30 PM ONWARDS, AT GYAN MANCHA, KOLKATA.
Angamantra, a prestigious institute of Bharatanatyam, proudly presents a mesmerizing solo recital by Suman Bari, a devoted disciple of the esteemed Shri Samrat Dutta. This enchanting performance will highlight Suman Bari’s exceptional dedication and mastery in the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam.
“Shubharambh” is an enchanting evening of classical dance featuring Suman Bari, who will present a Bharatanatyam Margam.

“The program will commence with a Pushpanjali, followed by an Allaripu. The highlight of the evening will be a Varnam dedicated to Sri Rama, set to Raag Todi and Taal Adi. This Varnam is musically composed by Sri Sitarama Sharma, choreographed by Smt Praveena Kutty, and revisualized by Sri Samrat Dutta. The performance will also include a Padam composed by Mutthu Tandavaar, set to Raag Kalyani and Taal Chaturashra Ekam, and a Thillana set to Raag Malkonsh and Taal Adi,” says the organisers of the programme.
ABOUT SUMAN BARI
Suman Bari, a devoted disciple of Shri Samrat Dutta, began her dance journey under Smt Munmun Mukherjee in Bandel, West Bengal. She honed her Bharatanatyam skills at Saraswat Sanskriti Kendra, Kolkata, under Guru Smt Anita Mallick, and furthered her training with Smt Jonaki Sarkar and Smt Parvati Gupta at Dancers Guild, Kolkata. Suman has enriched her repertoire through workshops with renowned figures like Padmabhushan Late Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar and Sri Vaibhav Arekar. She has also explored other dance forms with distinguished gurus such as Smt Srimayi Vempati (Kuchipudi), Sri Sandip Mullick (Kathak), and Smt Sangeeta Sharma (Contemporary dance). A former repertory member of Dancers Guild, Suman now runs her own dance institute in Salt Lake.
