SEMINAR & DANCE AT BHADRAKALI YOUTH CORE CLUB, KOLKATA
GAUDIYA SURESHWARI, KOLKATA founded for the promotion of the rich dance tradition of Bengal, presented a unique Cultural Evening featuring a discussion on the topic – Gaudiya Nritya: Tradition and Heritage of Bengal followed by a splendid dance performance of talennted artists of Gaudiya Sureshwari on 30 June 2024.
Dr.Chidananda Bhattacharya, Professor, English Department and former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata presided the function.
Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, former Professor and Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata presented the keynote address. In her speech, Professor Mahua Mukherjee discussed how she discovered the traditional dance form of Bengal through research in ancient Bengali literature, sculpture and folk dance, and how it has reached its current stature despite various challenges, says Dr. Paramita Banerjee, Director of Gaudiya Sureshwari, who received the Senior Scholarship and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India; Monmohan Ghosh Gold Medal from Rabindra Bharati University and NABC.
The event witnessed the splendid music performance by renowned Music researcher Amitava Mukherjee.
