SAWAN SAMAROH – Music Recitals (Hindustani, Carnatic & Gurmat Sangeet) presented jointly by BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN, KOLKATA and NOBLE ART DOCUMENTATION & DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (NADD) at Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR, Kolkata on 2-4 August 2023.

SAWAN SAMAROH offered an attractive collage of Classical Music performances by reputed artists across generations and regions of India

The first evening featured felicitation of Dr G V. Subramanian, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan  and Smt. Minakshi Mishra Director & Zonal Head, ICCR, Kolkata.

Renowned Vocalists SOUNAK CHATTERJEE  and  NABANITA CHOWDHARY  opted for the flagship Raga of Malhar family – Megh – as the first piece, followed by Light Classical pieces.

Renowned musician Smt. ESHA BANDYOPADHYAY presented Purab Ang Thumri  and Kajri. Pandit ALANKAR SINGH demonstrated the application of Raga Sangeet in Gurbani Kirtan. Pandit Chetan JOSHI rendered a bansuri recital in Madhu Malhar.

In the ‘string segment’  two jugalbandis, well-known musicians Pandit DEBASHISH BHATTACHARYA  and  Pandit PARTHA BOSE (Chaturangi-Sitar) and MOR MUKUT  and  MANOJ KEDIA (Sitar-Sarod) were featured.

In the Carnatic performance, Chitravina was presented by renowned musician N RAVIKIRAN accompanied by renowned musician G Sivani on violin and Vidwan S. Sekhar on Mridangam.

The festival featured well-known accompanists – Sabir Khan, Durjay Bhaumik, Indranil Mallick, Chiranjit Mukherjee, Narinder Pal Singh (Tabla), Dharamnath Mishra, Gourab Chatterjee,  Anirban Chakrabarty (harmonium) and Sandeep Singh (Dilruba).
