RENOWNED IRANIAN ARTIST SARA ABBASIAN, AMIDST THE GLOBAL CRISIS AND THE ONGOING WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST THAT THREATENS PEACE AND SECURITY, UNVEILS HER SOLO EXHIBITION– GREEN WEAPONS AT VIDA HEYDARI CONTEMPORARY IN PUNE, INDIA—EXPLORING CAMOUFLAGE AS BOTH A MILITARY STRATEGY AND A VISUAL LANGUAGE OF POWER.
Sara Abbasian’s Green Weapons: Camouflage, Power, and the Hidden Language of War
Amidst the turbulence of a world shaken by conflict, Vida Heydari Contemporary presents Green Weapons — a solo exhibition by renowned Iranian artist Sara Abbasian.
In this striking body of work, Sara Abbasian interrogates camouflage not merely as a military tactic but as a visual language of power—an aesthetic of disappearance that paradoxically enables force, control and the quiet persistence of danger.
Rooted in the mechanics of warfare, camouflage conceals weapons to delay detection, protect positions, and maintain tactical superiority. Yet in Sara Abbasian’s recontextualization, invisibility becomes an active force rather than an absence. Her works isolate and magnify camouflage systems—green and brown for forests, beige for deserts, white and grey for snow—revealing how violence hides in plain sight, how familiarity masks threat, and how coded aesthetics sustain the machinery of war.
The exhibition resonates as a meditation on survival, corruption, and the inhumane behaviors of contemporary man. Sara Abbasian, born in Tehran in 1982, has long explored themes of violence, disease, and systemic decay through painting, drawing and installation. With fifteen solo shows and over thirty group exhibitions worldwide—including Athens Digital Arts Festival (2008), Luciano Benetton’s Imago Mundi Collection in Venice (2015), Art Dubai (2018), and ASIA NOW (2021)—her practice continues to challenge audiences to confront the hidden architectures of power.
Green Weapons will preview on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Vida Heydari Contemporary. In a time when war threatens global peace and security, Abbasian’s art compels us to see beyond the surface—to recognize camouflage not as silence, but as a language of violence inscribed into the very textures of our world.
