Samantaral: A Parallel Journey of Artistic Dialogue in Kolkata
At the heart of Kolkata’s vibrant cultural landscape, the exhibition Samantaral (Parallel) unfolds as a poetic exploration of harmony and divergence.
Featuring the evocative works of renowned artists Joydeep Bhattacharjee and Uma Majumder, the show invites audiences into a visual narrative where distinct artistic journeys run side by side—like parallel lines—yet converge in their shared pursuit of aesthetic depth and expression.
Inaugurated on 21 March 2025, this creative dialogue now extends into its public showcase from 21st to 25th March 2026, daily between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at the serene Sunayani Chitrasala Charubasona, Jogen Chowdhury Center for Arts, Prince Anwar Shah Road, Kolkata.
Samantaral is more than an exhibition; it is a conversation between mediums, perspectives and sensibilities. Joydeep Bhattacharjee and Uma Majumder weave together contrasts and harmonies, offering viewers a layered experience that oscillates between individuality and interconnectedness.
“Through this exhibition, we aim to showcase a dialogue between two distinct artistic journeys that run side-by-side, much like parallel lines, yet converge in their shared pursuit of aesthetic depth and expression,” the artists affirm.
Their words resonate in every canvas, every stroke, and every interplay of form and color, creating a space where art becomes both personal and universal.
