Sabrang Classical Music Concert 2026: Honouring the Timeless Legacy of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahab
PATULI SREERAMPORE NORTH SABRANG stands devoted to nurturing and celebrating the rich heritage of Indian Classical Music, while honouring the timeless legacy of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahab. Carrying this vision forward, the organisation will present the Sabrang Classical Music Concert on 16 January 2026 — an evening that brings together internationally acclaimed maestros, eminent stalwarts, distinguished artists, and gifted young talents.
This special gathering will unite musicians, scholars, and rasikas for a memorable celebration of tradition, artistry and musical excellence.
The evening will be graced by the honoured presence of Suparnananda Maharaj from the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, adding deep spiritual warmth to the occasion.
A moment of special pride will be the felicitation of the distinguished sitar maestro Shri Anjan Chattopadhyay, who will be honoured with a Special Recognition for his remarkable artistry. The prestigious Sabrang Award will be conferred upon Padmashree Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri in acknowledgement of his extraordinary contribution to the world of music.
The Sabrang Classical Music Concert promises an enchanting evening led by internationally acclaimed maestros. The highlight of the night will be a spellbinding Tabla Solo by Padmashree Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, accompanied by the soulful harmonium of Pandit Hiranmay Mitra. The concert will also feature a captivating Hindustani Vocal Recital by Smt. Soumi Majumdar, enriched by the dynamic tabla artistry of Pandit Subhen Chatterjee and the melodic support of Shri Anirban Chakraborty on harmonium. Together, these distinguished artists will create an unforgettable celebration of classical music and its timeless beauty.
A Evening Enlivened by Diverse Performances
A soulful Sarod Recital by Shri Shiraj Ali Khan, accompanied by the dynamic tabla of Pandit Samar Saha, will offer listeners a rich musical experience. This will be followed by a heartfelt Vocal Recital by Smt. Manjima Maitra, supported by Shri Pritam Polley on tabla and Shri Sayan Chatterjee on harmonium, creating a serene blend of melody and rhythm.
Adding youthful brilliance to the stage, talented students of Ms. Soumi Majumdar—Ananya Maity, Antarag Mandal, Abantika Ghosh, Ree Purkait, Riddha Purkait, Dayitaa Roy, Sneha Ghosh Hazra, and Mangal Dolui—will present special performances, accompanied once again by Shri Pritam Polley and Shri Sayan Chatterjee.
The concert will be graced by distinguished guests including Ramanujacharya Swami Agamanand Ji Maharaj, Pandit Anjan Chattopadhyay, Shri Sumit Roy, Pandit Subhasish Mukhopadhyay, and other esteemed personalities, making the evening truly memorable.
